SUMMARY:Rotary La Valette Celebrates Fellowship and Service at Convivial Dinner
DESCRIPTION:On 22nd July 2025\, the Rotary Club La Valette hosted its much-anticipated Convivial Dinner at the elegant Royal Malta Yacht Club\, bringing together 40 Rotarians and their partners for an evening of camaraderie\, celebration\, and recognition of service. \nThe atmosphere was warm and welcoming as members gathered to enjoy a delicious dinner in the picturesque setting overlooking Marsamxett Harbour. The evening was not only a culinary delight but also a meaningful occasion that highlighted Rotary’s enduring values of fellowship\, international understanding\, and service above self. \nInternational Fellowship: Banner Exchange with Hungary \nA special moment unfolded when President Dr. Clare Vassallo exchanged club banners with visiting Rotarian Tóth Zoltán from the Rotary Club of Pécs\, Hungary. This symbolic gesture underscored Rotary’s global reach and the strong bonds that unite Rotarians across borders. The exchange served as a reminder of the shared mission and mutual respect that define Rotary’s international community. \nWelcoming New Members \nThe evening also marked a milestone for Rotary La Valette as two new members were officially welcomed into the club. Mr. Roland Vella and Ms. Franca Grima were ceremoniously pinned\, signifying their commitment to Rotary’s ideals and their readiness to contribute to the club’s ongoing projects and initiatives. Their induction was met with enthusiastic applause and heartfelt congratulations from fellow Rotarians. \nPaul Harris Fellow Awards: Honouring a Family of Service \nThe highlight of the evening was the presentation of Paul Harris Fellow Awards\, Rotary’s prestigious recognition for outstanding service. In a touching and unprecedented moment\, three members of the same family were honoured by ex-President Annemarie Bianchi for their exceptional contributions: \n\nRob von Brockdorff was recognised for his long-standing dedication to Hospice Malta\, where his compassionate work has made a lasting impact on countless lives.\nMatthew von Brockdorff received the award for his leadership in the India Homes Project\, which provides shelter and support to children in need. His efforts in securing annual sponsorships of €150 per child have been instrumental in sustaining the initiative.\nAngie von Brockdorff was celebrated for her unwavering support of Rotary Club La Valette\, particularly through her role in organising fundraisers and managing the procurement of goods donated to the Millennium Chapel in Paceville.\n\nThe triple recognition was a poignant tribute to a family deeply committed to Rotary’s mission\, and their collective impact was met with admiration and gratitude from all in attendance. \nA Night to Remember \nThe Convivial Dinner was more than just a social gathering—it was a celebration of Rotary’s spirit in action. From welcoming new members to honouring those who serve with distinction\, the evening reflected the club’s vibrant community and its dedication to making a difference. \nRotary Club La Valette looks forward to building on this momentum\, continuing to foster fellowship and drive meaningful change both locally and globally. \n  \nBanner exchange\n  \nFranca Grima “pinned” as a new member\n  \nRoland Vella “pinned” as a new member\n  \nMatthew von Brockdorff receiving his Paul Harris Award\n  \nAngie von Brockdorff\, proud of her Paul Harris Award\n  \nRob von Brockdorff\, after receiving his Paul Harris Award\, flanked by President Dr Clare Vassallo and ex-President Annemarie Bianchi\n  \nMembers and partners enjoying the convivial dinner
