Sicily and Malta
Rotary Club La Valette Malta, is part of Rotary’s District 2110 which is one of the few bi-National Districts of Rotary International. This District is particularly dynamic and is made up of the Italian autonomous region island of Sicily and the Republic of Malta. This District is characterised by a shared cultural heritage, breath-taking landscapes, and vibrant communities separated, yet joined, by 60 km of sea. Around 100 Rotary clubs in District 2110 Sicily and Malta are actively serving their local and overseas communities, addressing pressing issues, and creating lasting positive change. From supporting educational programs and healthcare initiatives to promoting environmental sustainability and fostering youth development, District 2110 Rotarians are committed to making a difference. The District encourages collaboration, fellowship, and international understanding among its members, fostering a strong sense of unity and a shared passion for service. Through these collective efforts, Rotary District 2110 Sicily and Malta aims to leave a lasting impact and contribute to the betterment of the region.

District Governor 2024-2025
Giuseppe Pitari
Giuseppe Pitari was born in Catania on 25 July 1962, resides in Augusta, in the province of Syracuse, and is an entrepreneur. He obtained his classical high school diploma in Augusta and graduated in Physics with top marks and honors from the University of Catania.
He carried out his military service as an Artillery Officer, holding the positions of Instructor and Head of Transmissions at the Artillery Officers School in Bracciano.
Winner of the competition for Meteorologist Officer of the Air Force, he boasts the publication of his own experimental study entitled “Rain Sequences in Sicily”.
Professional Activity
After a long managerial experience in large industrial groups such as ENI and ERG, in 2014 he founded the company Vera Salus Ricerca operating in the sector of Biomedical Research applied to pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and agri-food, and is its Sole Director.
In recent years, the Company has designed and created new molecular platforms and methodologies for the extraction of active ingredients from natural substances, for innovative applications in the field of human health, including oncology, anti-aging, anti-inflammatories and immunomodulators.
Rotary activity
Rotaractor of the Augusta Club from 1985 to 1993, he has been a member of the Augusta Rotary Club since 1994.
Club President in the Rotary years 2004-2005 and 2016-2017, he held various district positions, including:
President of District Committees, Area Delegate for the Rotary Foundation, Assistant to the Governor, Coordinator of the Governor’s Assistants for Eastern Sicily, District Co-Secretary
He was delegated, for the Rotary District 2110, to the Committee for the organization of the Centenary Celebrations of Rotary International in Rome in March 2005.
He has consistently participated in district meetings and numerous international meetings, including, most recently, the GNTS-Institute in Basel in 2022, the GETS-Institute in Rome in 2023 and the Governors Training Assembly in Orlando in January 2024.
Organizer of Club projects, district and inter-district initiatives, he was a contact person for Global Grants.
He has received various awards, including the Paul Harris Fellow 3 rubies and the “Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians”.
He is a benefactor of the Rotary Foundation and a member of the PolioPlus Society.
Family
He is married to Ivana Sarcià, graduated in Cultural Heritage Sciences and in Literature, Primary School Teacher and Tutor Coordinator of the master’s degree course in Primary Education Sciences at the faculty of Classical, Linguistic and Educational Studies of the University of Enna “Kore”; Ivana is a Rotarian of the Passport Innovation 2110 Club and a member of the Inner Wheel Club Augusta. Giuseppe and Ivana have two daughters: Lavinia, graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology and graduated in Piano, currently a doctoral student at the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering of the Polytechnic of Milan; Maria Virginia, student in Medicine and Surgery. Both are Rotaractors and Lavinia is also a member of the Augusta Rotary Club.
