Maria-Gabriele Doublesin of Rotary Club La Valette represented Malta at the 2025 Rotary Presidential Peace Conference in Istanbul. With decades of expertise in peace education and intercultural dialogue, she examined how cultural lenses influence listening, understanding, and human interaction—advancing Rotary’s mission for global peace and cohesion.
Following her presentation at the 2025 Rotary International Presidential Peace Conference in Istanbul, Maria-Gabriele Doublesin was invited by Rotary Estoi Palace International, Portugal, to speak on using the 4-Way Test to bridge divides. As a member of the Rotary Club La Valette, she explored how Rotary ethics can foster peace and understanding in divided societies.
Rotary Club la Valette Club President Godfrey Swain together with Board members Patricia Salomone, Bryan Sullivan and Sandra La Rosa attended a session from an Opera Nova Project weekend Masterclass run by Paul McNamara, the Artistic Leader of the Dutch National Opera Academy at the Opera Nova premises within The Catholic Institute in Floriana.
On 6 May 2025, the Rotary Club La Valette hosted Professor Richard Rubenstein, who spoke on peacebuilding in today’s complex global landscape. Emphasising Rotary’s vital role, he highlighted international collaborations and urged support for Malta’s conflict resolution program—underscoring Rotary’s power to drive meaningful, grassroots change in global peace efforts.
On Monday 12th May, 2025, members from RC La Valette Malta, RC Malta and Rotaract Malta were hosted to a very interesting talk by beekeeper Perit Jorge Spiteri, on behalf of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Maltese Honey Bee at Gnien Sir Alexander Ball, Safi, where the beehives are kept. This is one of 8 gardens still extant, planted by the British in the early 19th century.
At the 2025 Rotary District Assembly in Catania, delegates from Sicily and Malta united under the theme “United to Do Good.” With visionary plans, cultural celebration, and a shared commitment to impact, Rotary leaders embraced service, music, and fellowship, setting the tone for a transformative year across District 2110.
