Rotary Club La Valette, in collaboration with Rotary Malta, is proud to highlight Malta’s involvement in the ninth edition of the Europe 4 Europe (E4E) Youth Program, held between 4 and 22 July 2026. E4E is Rotary’s flagship European youth exchange initiative, bringing together 27 young participants—one from each EU member state—for a threeweek journey across Europe designed to promote unity, cultural understanding, and personal development.
This year, Malta was represented by Gabriele Quadarella, who joined fellow European participants in an intensive program spanning Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. His experience reflects both the educational depth and intercultural richness that define E4E.
Italy: Innovation, Culture, and First Impressions
Gabriele began his journey in Como and Milan, where he introduced Malta to the group and engaged in cultural exchange. Highlights included swimming in Lake Como, visiting the Tempio Voltiano to learn about Alessandro Volta, and exploring Kilometro Rosso, one of Italy’s leading innovation hubs.
Germany: Technology, Sport, and European Industry
In Germany, the group toured Audi AG in Neckarsulm, gaining insight into automotive engineering and future mobility. They also visited École 42, a pioneering coding academy, enjoyed canoeing, and explored the historic city of Heidelberg.
Netherlands: Community, Adventure, and European Institutions
Hosted by local Rotary families, participants experienced Dutch hospitality during a group dinner. Activities included an outdoor adventure program, a visit to a NATO base, and attendance at the World Music Contest, a major marching and showband event.
Belgium: Climate Science and European Governance
In Belgium, Gabriele learned about local traditions such as Knapkoek, explored climatechange research at Ecotron, and visited Brussels, including the European Parliament.
France: History, Heritage, and Reflection
The French leg included meetings with the Mayor of Thionville, a visit to Metz Cathedral, and an excursion to a WWI cemetery, offering a moment of historical reflection.
Luxembourg: Europe’s Future and Youth Engagement
The final days in Luxembourg featured a photo challenge, visits to the European Investment Bank, and the Europa Experience, where participants explored how EU decisions shape daily life.
A European Journey with Rotary Values at Its Core
E4E 2026 reaffirmed Rotary’s commitment to fostering international understanding, youth empowerment, and European unity. Through cultural immersion, institutional visits, and shared experiences, Gabriele represented Malta with enthusiasm and curiosity—embodying Rotary’s belief that “unity knows no borders.”
