Rotary Club La Valette, together with Rotary Malta, District 2110 and District 2100 (Naples & Calabria) have joined forces to assist Hospice Malta open the first palliative care hospital in Malta. Extensive fund-raising has enabled the furnishing of the 16 bedrooms and dining room in the inpatient unit. The service is provided to patients suffering from cancer, motor neuron disease and end-of-life cardiac, respiratory, renal and liver diseases and focuses on the individual needs of the person and their family and carers. St Michael Hospice is due to open in 2024 and will be a milestone in the provision of palliative care in Malta.
