Rotary Club La Valette members participated in the Interdistrettuale Conference in Siracusa, where ties were strengthened with Rotary Battipaglia—a banner exchange with Incoming President Ing. Luigi Bisaccia marked the beginning of a promising relationship, with future collaboration and a potential twinning initiative on the horizon.

Strengthening International Rotary Bonds

A delegation from the Rotary Club La Valette, including Tonio Depasquale, Marylene Hannan, Franca Grima, and Dolores Von Moll, attended the Interdistrettuale Conference held in Siracusa in early June 2025. Among the many distinguished guests was Ing. Luigi Bisaccia, Incoming President of Rotary Battipaglia-Salerno, accompanied by his wife, Laura. Initial introductions during the conference dinner led to continued engagement throughout the event.

Following the conference, Ing. Bisaccia extended an invitation to the Rotary Club La Valette to attend the Incoming President Ceremony in Paestum on July 4, 2025, expressing interest in a potential twinning between the two clubs. Although President Clare Vassallo was unable to attend due to prior commitments, representatives Marylene Hannan, Franca Grima, and Winifred Platt were present at the celebration.

The Paestum event was marked by a warm reception, with the Maltese delegation receiving enthusiastic applause from the assembly. The ceremony featured speeches, a presentation by the Incoming President outlining his vision for the year, and a lively atmosphere of camaraderie. Guests enjoyed canapés and drinks in an outdoor setting, followed by a four-course dinner hosted by Rotary Battipaglia.

Entertainment included a humorous theatrical performance by the President’s son, adding a personal and memorable touch to the evening. During dinner, banners were formally exchanged between the Rotary Club La Valette and the Rotary Battipaglia, symbolising mutual respect and marking the beginning of a collaborative relationship. A ceramic memento was presented to all attending ladies as a keepsake.

Rotary Battipaglia members are scheduled to visit Malta on October 3 2025, for a weekend. Rotary Club La Valette looks forward to welcoming the delegation and further strengthening the bond between the two clubs.
