Rotary Club La Valette Presents Global Grant Support to Dar Tghanniqa Ta’Omm

On 8 June 2026, Rotary Club La Valette formally presented its USD 40,000 Global Grant to the senior management of Dar Tghanniqa Ta’ Omm in Mosta, marking a significant milestone in the Club’s commitment to supporting vulnerable mothers and newborns in Malta. The presentation took place in Valletta and brought together representatives from both the Club and the Home to celebrate the beginning of this impactful project.
This Global Grant—one of the most substantial ever secured by Rotary Club La Valette—was made possible through the combined efforts of several Rotary partners. Outgoing District 2110 Governor Sergio Malizia played a crucial role in encouraging the Club to pursue the initiative, offering early financial support that helped set the project in motion. Equally important was the collaboration with Rotary Club Damme in Bruges, Belgium, and their District, whose partnership strengthened the application and ensured the project met the high standards required by The Rotary Foundation.
The grant will fund essential upgrades at Dar Tghanniqa Ta’ Omm, a home that provides shelter, care, and support to motherstobe and new mothers facing difficult circumstances. The funds will enable the Home to acquire much-needed equipment—such as industrial washing machines, air conditioning units, and other essential items—that will significantly improve the comfort, hygiene, and day-to-day operations of the residence.
Representing Rotary Club La Valette at the presentation were President Clare Vassallo, Incoming President Annemarie Bianchi, and Treasurer David Dingli, each of whom contributed to the successful development and administration of the grant. The Home’s senior leadership welcomed them: Chairman Dr Tonio Fenech, CEO Dr Miriam Sciberras, and Secretary Dr Ivan Padovani, who expressed their gratitude for the Club’s support and emphasised the positive impact the improvements will have on the mothers and infants in their care.
President Clare highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the project, noting that the grant reflects Rotary’s core values of partnership, compassion, and sustainable service. Incoming President Annemarie reaffirmed the Club’s commitment to continuing its support for community focused initiatives, emphasising that projects like this demonstrate the real difference Rotary can make when clubs and districts work together.
