Strengthening Rotary Knowledge and Engagement: Quarterly Training Session

Rotary Club La Valette recently held another of its quarterly member training and orientation sessions, led by Rotarian David Dingli, as part of the club’s ongoing commitment to strengthening knowledge, engagement, and leadership. These sessions, organised four times a year, are designed to ensure that both new and longstanding members have a clear understanding of the structure of Rotary International, the Rotary Foundation, District 2110, and the wide range of service initiatives undertaken by the club.
During the session, David provided a comprehensive overview of Rotary International’s organisational framework, explaining how clubs, districts, zones, and the global Board of Directors work together to advance Rotary’s mission. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the Rotary Foundation, its grant mechanisms, and how its stewardship principles ensure that contributions are transformed into sustainable, highimpact projects worldwide. Members also gained a clearer understanding of District 2110, which encompasses Malta and Sicily, and how district leadership supports clubs through training, resources, and strategic direction.
A significant portion of the session focused on the Rotary Club La Valette’s ongoing work, highlighting current community initiatives, international collaborations, and upcoming service opportunities. David encouraged members to ask questions, share reflections, and seek clarification on any aspect of Rotary operations. The open discussion that followed demonstrated the value of creating a space where members can deepen their understanding and strengthen their sense of belonging.
Throughout the training, David underscored the importance of continuous learning, one of the core expectations of Rotary membership. He highlighted the Rotary International Learning Centre, an online platform offering hundreds of courses on leadership, project management, Rotary governance, and the Seven Areas of Focus. Members were encouraged to make use of these resources to enhance their skills and contribute more effectively to club activities.
The session reaffirmed Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self, ethical leadership, fellowship, and professional excellence. By investing in regular training, Rotary Club La Valette ensures that its members remain informed, empowered, and aligned with Rotary’s global vision.
