As part of its ongoing commitment to community service, Rotary Club La Valette has once again partnered with the St Jeanne Antide Foundation to support its annual Back-to-School Campaign. This year, the Club donated dozens of stationery packs and pencil cases to help children from vulnerable families start the school year with dignity and confidence.
The St Jeanne Antide Foundation, a Malta-based NGO founded by the Sisters of Charity, has been a beacon of hope for families facing poverty, social exclusion, and domestic hardship. Through its holistic support services—including mental health outreach, domestic violence advocacy, and family empowerment—the Foundation works tirelessly to uplift those most in need.
Each September, the Foundation launches its Back-to-School Campaign to ensure that no child begins the academic year feeling left behind. Many of the families they support fall just outside government assistance thresholds, leaving children without basic school supplies. Last year, the campaign provided 61 stationery packages and funded 15 school uniforms. This year, the Foundation aims to raise €3,000 to reach even more children.
Rotary La Valette’s donation directly contributes to this goal. The Club’s Treasurer, David J. Dingli, delivered high-quality pencil cases filled with essential stationery items—pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and notebooks, together with a box full of various stationery items tailored to the needs of primary and secondary school students. These donations not only meet practical needs but also send a powerful message of solidarity and care.
President of Rotary La Valette, Clare Vassallo, remarked, “Supporting the St Jeanne Antide Foundation is more than charity—it’s a partnership rooted in shared values. Education is a right, not a privilege, and we’re proud to help children walk into school feeling prepared and proud.”
This initiative is part of a longstanding relationship between Rotary La Valette and the Foundation, with the Club contributing annually to the campaign through in-kind donations and volunteer support. It reflects Rotary’s broader mission to serve communities and promote equity through sustainable action.
