The 48th District Conference of Rotary District 2110 (Sicily and Malta) took place from June 26 to 28, 2026, at the Saracen Sands Hotel & Congress Centre in Isola delle Femmine, Palermo. This annual Rotary Congresso marked the grand conclusion of the 2025–2026 Rotary year, gathering over 500 Rotarians united by fellowship, purpose, and service.
Representing Rotary Club La Valette, outgoing President Clare Vassallo joined peers from across the District to celebrate achievements under Governor Sergio Malizia and to welcome incoming Governor Lina Ricciardello. The event embodied Rotary’s enduring spirit of “Service Above Self”, blending reflection on past successes with enthusiasm for the year ahead.
The highlight of the Gala Dinner was a captivating performance by Christine Dalli of Rotary La Valette and Patrick Hamilton of Rotary Damme, whose artistry delighted the audience. Their contribution showcased the Club’s vibrant cultural presence and commitment to community engagement. “Brava Christine — you’ve done us proud!” echoed through the hall, affirming Rotary La Valette’s visibility and leadership within the District.
Governor Malizia’s closing address reflected on two years of remarkable progress: membership growth of 150 Rotarians, and donations exceeding $780,000 to The Rotary Foundation, making District 2110 the leading District in Italy for charitable contributions. His message of gratitude emphasised vision, strategy, and tenacity as the pillars of Rotary’s success, thanking every member for their dedication to Francesco Arezzo’s International Presidency and to Rotary’s humanitarian mission.
The conference also celebrated a historic milestone: Lina Ricciardello’s appointment as the first female District Governor of Rotary District 2110. A distinguished educator, entrepreneur, and longtime Rotarian, Ricciardello’s leadership embodies Rotary’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her extensive service—from founding the Patti Interact Club to coordinating training programs in Malta—reflects a lifetime of dedication to Rotary values and community empowerment.
As Rotary La Valette looks forward to the 2026–2027 Rotary year, the Palermo Congresso stands as a testament to the strength of Rotary District 2110, the unity of Sicily and Malta, and the shared commitment to doing good in the world.
