Service Without Borders: Supporting the Street Kids Project in Nairobi

In March 2026, three members of Rotary Club La Valette, Godfrey Swain, David Dingli, and Fabio Stivala, travelled to Nairobi, Kenya, for a deeply meaningful and inspiring visit. Their time in Nairobi was marked not only by warm fellowship but also by a shared commitment to service that lies at the heart of Rotary values.

On the evening of 27 March 2026, the Maltese delegation met with Rotaract Eco Warriors in Nairobi. This dynamic and dedicated group is leading impactful initiatives within its community. The meeting, held in an atmosphere of genuine warmth and openness, brought together individuals united by a common purpose: to improve lives through service and collaboration.

From the outset, the interaction was lively, engaging, and filled with a strong sense of connection. Personal stories were exchanged, experiences shared, and ideas explored. The visiting Rotarians were particularly moved by the passion and commitment demonstrated by the Eco Warriors, especially in relation to their Street Kids Project. Listening first-hand to the realities faced by the children and the efforts being made to support them left a lasting impression on the delegation.

The Street Kids Project, which aims to provide care, support, and long-term opportunities for vulnerable children, stood out as a powerful example of grassroots action making a real difference. The dedication of the Rotaract members, their vision for the future, and their ambition to create a stable home environment for the children were both inspiring and humbling.

In a tangible demonstration of support, the Rotary Club La Valette made a donation of 1,100 USD to the Rotaract Club to help advance the Street Kids Project. This contribution was received with heartfelt gratitude and seen as both a practical boost to ongoing efforts and a strong vote of confidence in the work being carried out on the ground.

The visit was characterised by mutual appreciation. The Maltese Rotarians expressed their admiration for what they described as a remarkable group of young, passionate individuals committed to transforming lives. In turn, the Eco Warriors expressed deep gratitude for their visitors’ presence, encouragement, and generosity.

What emerged from this encounter was more than a single meeting. It was the beginning of a strengthened partnership grounded in shared values, friendship, and a collective determination to make a difference. The energy generated during this visit continues to inspire both clubs as they look ahead to further collaboration.
