A last farewell to our dear friend and to a great Rotarian – Bryan Ellul Sullivan. Bryan Ellul Sullivan

Rotary Club La Valette Malta members were devastated to learn that our dear friend Bryan Ellul Sullivan passed away peacefully on 5th May 2026.  Many of us members of the club attended his moving and painfully poignant funeral yesterday at St. Gregory Parish Church, Sliema, Malta.

Bryan was a very special Rotarian, a pillar of strength and knowledge of all things Rotary. He was a Past President of our Club La Valette, served as District Governor’s Assistant, awarded multiple Paul Harris Awards, and was very well known and loved not just by our members in Malta but also by many of our District 2110 friends in Sicily.  He was a mentor and friend to many of us who first learned the ropes through Bryan’s patience and interest. ‘Service before Self’ is a core value of Rotary International, and Bryan was always true to it.

On a more personal level, we will all miss his warm, charismatic and cheerful character, his cheeky grin, his friendly smile, his jokes and his enduring energy.  Bryan lived a full life; he enjoyed his children, his many friends, his Rotary mission and his passion for sports, playing tennis, padel, football and so many other sports right up to when, sadly, he was called by the Good Lord.

To say he will be missed by all of us at Rotary La Valette is an understatement – he is one of the foundations of our club. We honour Bryan, his life and his work helping people in the poorest quarters of Palermo and Rome, and in shelter homes in Malta and at the Malta Food Bank, among others.

During his official visit to the club, last December 2025, District Governor Sergio Malizia honoured Bryan with a plaque for special merit. Upon learning of the sad demise, the District Governor expressed his deepest condolences to the family and the club.

Our deepest sympathies go to Bryan’s family and friends.  Rest in peace and fly high, dear Bryan.
