The Latnija Cave discovery in Mellieħa has rewritten Malta’s earliest human history, pushing back settlement by 1,000 years. Rotary La Valette’s fellowship talk highlighted groundbreaking research by Prof. Eleanor Scerri and Prof. Nicholas Vella, revealing that Mesolithic hunter-gatherers were skilled seafarers who crossed vast stretches of the Mediterranean to reach Malta.

Maltese Rotary clubs Visit the beehives in Safi

On Monday 12th May, 2025, members from RC La Valette Malta, RC Malta and Rotaract Malta were hosted to a very interesting talk by beekeeper Perit Jorge Spiteri, on behalf of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Maltese Honey Bee at Gnien Sir Alexander Ball, Safi, where the beehives are kept. This is one of 8 gardens still extant, planted by the British in the early 19th century.
Rotary Club la Valetta supports the Opera Nova Project

It was an eye-opening experience to attend an opera masterclass, to witness the depth of talent in the Maltese musical scene and realise how much hard work goes into every note sung, how much effort in pronunciation and stress on musical awareness these young people must master when presenting themselves in public in a professional context. We are proud to be supporting this amazing project in its very first year.
